as the July '08 Marie Claire mag says, "the girls are BACK", but in my world they never left. i bought this today at my local CVS not knowing that it had 4 covers (well SJP has the main cover). i'm not too wild about MC but as i flipped through it seems to have some good fashion and makeup tips along with some buzz with new music and movies for the summer. i mean, with SATC leading the mag for the month it has no choice but to be fabulous.

the Sex and the City movie pulled in $55.7 million over the weekend bumping Indie into second place. the SATC movie has also become the first romantic comedy and rated 'R' comedy to pull in that much money in an opening EVER!! fabulous!!
now here's my take on the film since most of you have seen it already. if not, well...
i did enjoy the movie overall, but here are some little things that could've been worked on:
1. although i was happy they added a sista by bringing Jennifer Hudson onto the cast, she could've played up her role a bit more.
2. the fifth lady, New York City, was not displayed as much as it could have.
3. how many times were the girls going to squeal every time they saw each other?
4. i needed a scene with just Carrie and Stanford. from pics you can see that one was recorded, but didn't make it on to the screen. :( (or did i miss it??)
5. and lastly, Carrie should've gotten the wedding she wanted. it was Big's third and her first--so what was his problem? when he married Natasha, did he not have a jazz song playing when she walked down the aisle? wasn't that so "Big"?
but like i said. minus those small glitches and the movie is still whimsical, fun, and satisfying :)
i was one of many (and i mean many) gals and guys last night who attended the 12:01 am premiere of the Sex and the City movie in New York City. the looooong line was a mix of suits, cocktail dresses, and cute casuals. the AMC Loews on 34th st. was only catering to the long awaited movie featuring the show in all its rooms on the top floor. people were scrambling for seats dipping in and out of each room to make room for themselves. after waiting for about a half an hour to get passed all of the previews, the show FINALLY began. now i'm not going to give any of the plot away but i will say this... you will hear just about everyone say "i'm sorry", Charlotte and Samantha will have you laughing out loud, Carrie will make you say "i want those outfits!!", and you'll want to give Miranda a loving slap in the face. ok sooo this doesn't sound like a stretch from the series, but being that it's now a feature film, elements have been heightened in all directions in order to make the watch more enjoyable and fabulous.
on another note the 'Sex and the City: the movie' book comes out today. now i pre-ordered this week and it arrived to my home yesterday. luckily i did not see it until i was about to leave for NY so if i had even taken a peek inside of the book, i would've found out the whole story before i saw the movie. so note, if you want the book and plan on seeing the movie-- DON'T LOOK AT THE BOOK. it pretty much goes through the whole movie in a somewhat fairy-tale form with pictures, little side notes, and parts that ended up on the cutting room floor. OH!!! and the best part of the book you ask? it goes through each of the gals' outfits from head to toe letting you know the designer of each and every item. and you know these girls are wearing things that aren't even out in stores yet.
overall, it was great to see the ladies and gents of SATC. the show started when i was 16 years old and i can remember coming home after school and watching it (yes back in the 90's they played it in the afternoon). i was so influenced by Carrie that her career as a journalist made me want to become one. and now i'm a journalism major at Rutgers University hoping one day i can be the toast of the town and have people waiting to see what it is i have to say in print. i feel after 10 lovely, heartbraking, stylish, and fabulous years it has all come full circle. if this movie were to be the period that ends the sentence in all that is SATC, then i am very satisfied.
ps. check back later for pics

Radio City Hall was the place to be yesterday for the SATC New York premiere. people from Jennifer Hudson (who sings on the soundtrack and plays Carrie's assistant in the movie), Mary J. Blige, Fergie (who's also featured on the soundtrack), Ashley Olsen, Lil Kim, and the author of the original 'Sex and the City' novel, Candace Bushnell were all on board for the US showing. of course with bringing the movie home to its birthplace there were plenty of fashionable gowns that mixed metallics and lovely whites. it's going to be no surprise that gals and guys who are planning on going to the first viewing of the movie May 30th will be dressed to the nines. i already have my dress waiting in the wings...
ps. the after-party was held at the Museum of Modern Art with Samantha Ronson on the the one's and two's *ahem* Lindsay Lohan was nowhere in site.

at your local S&B you can find these cute t's and tanks for under $9. i picked up mine over the weekend and it's the "Carried Away" tee with SJP on the front and "Sex and the City" written on the back. i must say with this top in paticular it ran a bit small so you may want to go up a size or two for a more casual fit. at the store location in the Manhattan Mall just about 90% of the women were holding at least one of these limited edition pieces in their hand. so grab yours now to wear with skinny jeans and pumps, or with shorts and flats. either way you'll be oh so sexy.

today the soundtrack to the highly anticipated movie of the season is released. May 30 is so close i can taste it!!!

i had no idea that tickets for the movie would be available for pre-order, LET ALONE sold out. my first choice was to go to the Times Square theater amongst all the lights and essence of New York City. but then i had to pause because both showings were sold out. no sweat, i was able to score two tickets for myself and my friend Danielle for the 34th st. Loews' theater. showtime is 12:01am on May 30th. see you then...

the SATC movie premiered in London today. there are a lot of people wondering why it hit over the pond before it's home in NYC? well, the answer is that the gals are sort wetting the appetites of fans in other parts of the globe before getting ready for the entree in New York. it's been very clear that i've been starving myself for this movie; however i am aware of some parts of the plot. so i'm going to publish what i know and if i'm correct then you read it here first. if i'm wrong... then i was just guessing lol.
1. Charlotte really does get pregnant.
2. There aren't any "dream sequences".
3. Samantha moves to LA.
4. Someone dies... and i believe....it is.... Mr. Big.
resulting in
5. Carrie and Big don't get married.
i could be wrong... but we have 2 1/2 weeks more to go.
i did my part during Green Week and ordered the SATC reusable dry cleaning bag. it's made of breathable material and you're supposed to use it instead of those annoying plastic covers that they put on your clothes when you pick them up from the dry cleaners. the bottom also has an adjustable pulley at the bottom. it's very wide, very durable, and very cute. you are going to want to make trips to the cleaners just to carry this.

the ladies, and gent, of Sex and the City were on Oprah today. it was a good episode that gave me chills when all four gals were out together on the couch. all of the ladies looked very pretty (but of course) and the conversations of the movie, and fashion, and romance just had me wishing that May 30th was tomorrow.
